Olympic medallists Letsile Tebogo, Kishane Thompson and Fred Kerley will go head to head in a stellar men's 100m field at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Rome on August 30th.
Botswana's Tebogo took gold in the men's 200m at the Olympic Games in Paris, and will be eyeing his first 100m Diamond League win of the season when he lines up at the Pietro Mennea Golden Gala in Rome's Stadio Olimpico.
Thompson will also fancy himself as a favourite after he claimed silver in a dramatic photo finish in the 100m in Paris. The Jamaican has never won at a Wanda Diamond League meeting, and will be hoping to change that when he makes his first appearance of the 2024 campaign in Rome.
They will be joined by fellow Olympic 100m finalists Fred Kerley, who won bronze in Paris, and Marcell Jacobs, who won gold in Tokyo in 2021 and will have the Italian crowd behind him at his home Diamond League meeting.
Reigning Diamond League champion Christian Coleman will also be looking to bounce back from his Olympic disappointment with a third Diamond League win of the season, while Kenya's Ferdinand Omanyala, Jamaica's Ackeem Blake and Japan's Abdul Hakam Sani Brown complete a world class field.
The Wanda Diamond League is the premier one-day meeting series in athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels on 13th-14th September.
