Reigning Wanda Diamond League champion Tobi Amusan and 2021 Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn will resume their 100m hurdles rivalry at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Silesia, Poland on July 16th.
Already confirmed to go head to head at the Lausanne Diamond League in June, Silesia will be the latest chapter in a thrilling rivalry as the two women once again battle for hegemony in the 100m hurdles in 2023.
Amusan has won the Diamond Trophy in each of the last two seasons, and consolidated her status as a legend of the hurdles when she broke the world record with 12.12 at last year's World Athletics Championships in Oregon.
Camacho-Quinn, meanwhile, was the most consistent winner on the Diamond League circuit in 2022, claiming six victories in nine races over the course of the season, including a handful of victories over Amusan.
The Puerto Rican star broke the meeting record at the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial Meeting in Silesia last year, clocking 12.34 in a non-Diamond League race. "This is the perfect place to run fast. It is not just the track that is conducive to great performances, but the stands as well. They reach high up on all sides, surrounding the competition arena, which protects it from significant air movements. If you are in shape, this is a great location for setting PBs," she said at the time.
Reigning 110m hurdles Wanda Diamond League champion Grant Holloway will also be in action in Silesia, lining up against local star Jakub Szymanski in a non-Diamond League race.
The Kamila Skolimowska Memorial Meeting, which will be on the Diamond League circuit for only the second time this year, will also feature the likes of pole vault world record holder Mondo Duplantis and Olympic high jump champions Mutaz Barshim and Gianmarco Tamberi.
The Wanda Diamond League Silesia is the eighth leg of athletics' premier one-day meeting series, which comprises 14 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 13 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Eugene on 16th-17th September.
