The very best of British athletics, including two former Diamond Trophy winners and one reigning world champion, are set to cross the Channel and descend on Paris for the fourth Wanda Diamond League meeting of the season on June 9th.
Sprint sensation Dina Asher-Smith will line up in the women's 200m at Meeting de Paris, as she looks to regain the Wanda Diamond League title she last won in 2019. The 27-year-old has 13 victories on athletics' premier one-day circuit, but has never won in Paris. Her last appearance in the French capital came in 2021, when she finished third behind Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shericka Jackson in the 100m.
Asher-Smith will be joined on the track by fellow former Diamond League champion Keely Hodgkinson, who won the 800m Diamond Trophy with her first ever victory on the circuit in Zurich back in 2021. Olympic and world championship silver medallist Hodgkinson stormed to three victories on the Road to the Final last season, before ultimately losing her title to Kenya's Mary Moraa.
Jake Wightman will head to Paris as reigning world champion in the 1500m, a title he hopes to defend at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest in August after his sensational victory over favourite Jakob Ingebrigtsen in Oregon last year. In Paris, he will line up in the 800m, a discipline in which he clocked a personal best of 1:43.65 at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Brussels last September.
Wightman will be joined by 20-year-old world number three Max Burgin in the 800m, while more experienced Diamond League campaigners Holly Bradshaw and Eilish McColgan will also be flying the flag for Britain in the women's pole vault and women's 5000m respectively. Bradshaw and McColgan have over 70 Diamond League appearances between them, having both been regulars on the circuit since its inauguration back in 2010.
The Wanda Diamond League meeting in Paris is the fourth leg of athletics' premier one-day series, which comprises 14 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 13 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Eugene on 16th-17th September.
