Two-time Diamond Trophy winner Kyron McMaster will go up against 2022 series champion Alison Dos Santos in the men's 400m hurdles in Stockholm next month, as both men look to regain the Wanda Diamond League title in 2024.
McMaster won back-to-back Diamond League titles in 2017 and 2018 before making a stunning return to world-beating form when he claimed the silver medal at last summer's World Athletics Championships in Budapest. He followed that with a shock victory over world record holder and Olympic champion Karsten Warholm at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Zurich.
BAUHAUS-Galan will be at least his second appearance in the Wanda Diamond League in 2024, with the British Virgin Islands star also set to take on Dos Santos and Warholm in Oslo on May 30th.
Dos Santos is one of only five men ever to have broken the 47-second barrier in the 400m hurdles, rising to stardom in 2022 when he secured both the Wanda Diamond League and world titles in the space of just a single month.
That year also saw him take victory in Stockholm, clocking a new meeting record of 46.81.
His 2023 campaign was modest by comparison, as he finished fourth in Budapest and failed to claim a single win on the Diamond League circuit. Yet the Brazilian will no doubt be back with a bang when he takes on McMaster twice in the space of a week in Oslo and Stockholm.
The Wanda Diamond League is the premier one-day meeting series in athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels on 13th-14th September.
