Olympic 400m hurdles silver medallist Karsten Warholm will meet pole vault star Mondo Duplantis in Zurich next month for an unprecedented battle over 100m.
The two men are both world record holders in their chosen disciplines, but who can go faster over 100m?
Speculation of a 100m race between Warholm and Duplantis has been rife since the two were caught on camera discussing the idea at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Monaco last year.
In an exhibition race hosted in collaboration with PUMA and Red Bull, the race will now be held at the Letzigrund Stadium on September 4th, a day before the main Wanda Diamond League action at Weltklasse Zurich.
Despite the two superstars competing in different events, their respective personal bests in the 100-meters are not so far apart. Warholm recorded 10.49 seconds back in 2017 whilst Duplantis clocked a 10.57 as a high school senior just a year later – making the contest incredibly tough to call.
The Wanda Diamond League is the premier one-day meeting series in athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels on 13th-14th September.
