Pole vault superstar Mondo Duplantis will compete at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Paris on July 7th, just a few weeks before he defends his Olympic title in the French capital.
Three years after his last appearance at the Stade Charléty, Duplantis returns to Meeting de Paris this summer to get in shape for Paris 2024 and continue his journey towards a fourth successive Diamond League title.
The Swedish star has already started this season with a bang, breaking the world record for the eighth time in his career with a stunning 6.24m vault at the Wanda Diamond League season opener in Xiamen last month.
A week later in Suzhou, he sailed over 6.00m before narrowly missing out on another world record at 6.25m.
In Paris, he will be looking to go one better than the 6.01m meeting record he set back in 2021 and, if conditions are right, attack the world record head on once again.
The Meeting de Paris is the eighth leg of the 2024 Wanda Diamond League, and an important step on the Road to the Final in athletics' premier one-day meeting series. With some of track and field's biggest names expected at the Stade Charléty, it also provides a perfect dress rehearsal for the biggest stage of all a few weeks later.
The Wanda Diamond League is the premier one-day meeting series in athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels on 13th-14th September.
