Pole vault superstar Mondo Duplantis will continue his campaign for a fifth straight Wanda Diamond League title when he returns to the Yangtze Delta Athletics Diamond Gala on May 3.
After launching his campaign at the season opener in Xiamen on April 26, Duplantis will stay in China for the second leg of athletics' premier one-day series, which this year takes place in Keqiao.
“I can’t wait to come back and compete at Shanghai/Keqiao Diamond League. Last year was such a great experience jumping in front of the Chinese crowds. Let’s make it another incredible memory together!” he said.
Duplantis made his first appearance in China at the same meetings last year, making an explosive start to what was another record-breaking season.
In Xiamen, he broke the world record for the eighth time in his career with an astonishing effort of 6.24m, before clearing a meeting record of 6.00m at Shanghai/Suzhou.
The Olympic champion and world record holder will be hoping to make a similar start to this year's campaign, as he looks to defend his Diamond League and world titles in 2025.
As well as closing in on Renaud Lavillenie's record of seven Diamond League titles, Duplantis could also become only the second male pole vaulter to win three World Championship gold medals in the year ahead.
As in previous years, the Wanda Diamond League will provide the backbone of his season as the Swede continues to rewrite track and field history in 2025.
The Wanda Diamond League is the elite one-day meeting series in global athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final, which will be held in Zurich on 27th and 28th August 2025.
