The biggest stars of European athletics will all be in action when the Wanda Diamond League touches down in Monaco for the penultimate meeting before the Olympic Games on July 12th.
More than ten European champions - including Norwegian distance ace Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Italian high jump icon Gianmarco Tamberi - will hit the track at the Stade Louis II at the ninth leg of the 2024 Wanda Diamond League.
Fresh from their success at the European Championships in Rome earlier this month, Monaco is a chance to hone their for ahead of the Olympics and to take another step towards qualification for the Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels.
Italian star Tamberi, who claimed the European title with a stunning 2.37m jump in Rome, was already confirmed to compete at Herculis, and will now be joined by a host of fellow European champions.
Double Diamond League champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen once again swept to the title in both the 1500m and the 5000m in Rome, repeating the feat he last achieved at the Wanda Diamond League Final in Eugene last season.
His compatriot Karsten Warholm also defended his European title in the 400m hurdles, but the Norwegian has some work to do in the Diamond League after suffering defeat to Brazilian rival Alison Dos Santos at his home meeting in Oslo earlier this month.
Karoline Bjerkeli Grovdal, who won gold in the half-marathon and silver in the 5000m in Rome, completes a trio of Norwegian stars as she lines up in the 5000m at Herculis.
Women's 100m European champion Dina Asher-Smith will be looking to pick up her first Diamond League win in two years, while Ireland's Ciara Mageean will be aiming for only her second ever Diamond League win when she lines up in the 1500m.
Other European champions in action at Herculis include Spanish triple jumper Ana Peleteiro, Austrian javelin star Victoria Hudson, French 800m runner Gabriel Tual and Italian 5000m champion Natalia Batocletti.
The Wanda Diamond League is the premier one-day meeting series in athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels on 13th-14th September.
