Double Diamond League champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen will continue his quest to defend both the 1500m and 3/5000m titles when he returns to Silesia for the 12th meeting of the 2024 season next month.
Fresh from the Olympic Games in Paris, where he hopes to defend his 1500m gold medal, Ingebrigtsen will compete in the 3000m in Silesia as he eyes another historic double swoop on athletics' premier one-day circuit.
The Norwegian star made history at last year's Wanda Diamond League Final in Eugene when he secured both the 1500m and 3/5000m titles, becoming one of only a few athletes in history to have won two series titles in a single year.
Already on course for a place in the 1500m final thanks to his world-leading win in Oslo earlier this year, Ingebrigtsen will be hoping to book his slot in the 3/5000m final with a first long-distance win of the season in Silesia.
The three-time Diamond League champion has good memories of Silesia, having broken the European record there at last year's Wanda Diamond League meeting.
The Wanda Diamond League is the premier one-day meeting series in athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels on 13th-14th September.
