Double Wanda Diamond League champion Shericka Jackson will kick off her 200m title defence at the Shanghai/Suzhou meeting next month, with the Jamaican sprinter looking to emulate the kind of form which saw her take both sprint titles last season.
Jackson's back-to-back victories in the 100m and 200m at last year's final in Eugene saw her join an elite group of athletes who have won two Diamond Trophies in a single season, and only the second woman to win two titles on successive days.
World 200m champion in 2022 and 2023, Jackson's appearance in China will also be the first step on her road to the Olympic Games in Paris, where she hopes to improve on the 100m bronze she won in Tokyo three years ago.
Another reigning Diamond League champion, the USA's Valarie Allman, will also compete in Suzhou as part of the non-Diamond League women's discus event. Allman has dominated the women's discus in recent years. She has held the Diamond Trophy since 2021 and will be eyeing a fourth successive title this season.
Nonetheless, the American will have her work cut out when she heads to China for the first time this April, with a high-class field expected in Suzhou. Tausaga is the reigning world champion, having snatched a sensational victory at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last year. Feng, meanwhile, was crowned world champion in Eugene in 2022 and claimed her first Diamond League victory with a dramatic late win in Xiamen last season. She can expect to have the home crowd behind her once again in Suzhou.
The Wanda Diamond League is the premier one-day meeting series in athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels on 13th-14th September.
