Here are the key dates to look out for in the year ahead:
April 20th - Season launch in Xiamen
The season kicks off a little earlier than usual in 2024, the first meeting taking place in Xiamen on April 20th. Having made its debut on the Diamond League circuit last September, Xiamen will be one of two Chinese meetings which kick off this year's campaign. The second meeting of the year, originally schedule for Shanghai, will take place in neighbouring Suzhou on April 27th.
May 19th - Move to Marrakech
Last season proved to be a vintage year in Rabat, as Morocco's Soufiane El Bakkali delighted the home crowd with a meeting record in the men's 3000m steeplechase. This year, the Meeting International Mohammed VI has had to move location due to stadium renovation worsk in Rabat, meaning that the city of Marrakech will feature on the Diamond League circuit for the first time.
July 7th - Paris dress rehearsal
With all eyes on Paris this year, plenty of athletes will have earmarked the Meeting de Paris on July 7th as the perfect time to hit their best form in the Diamond League. The Olympic dress rehearsal in the Stade Charléty will feature the women's 100m and 1500m and the men's 200m and 400m hurdles. Though it will be an invaluable chance to get used to the Paris air, it won't be the last chance to get Olympic-fit, with meetings in Monaco and London also scheduled later in July.
August 22nd - Return to action in Lausanne
No peace for the wicked, and once the Olympics come to an end, the world's best athletes will get straight back to it in their battle for the Diamond Trophy. The first meeting back is at least a short trip from Paris, with Lausanne's Athletissima restarting the season on August 22nd. After that, Silesia, Rome and Zurich will offer three more opportunities for athletes to win points and qualify for the Wanda Diamond League Final.
September 13-14th - Final in Brussels
The Wanda Diamond League Final returns to Brussels for the first time since 2019 this year. Athletes who have earned enough points throughout the rest of the season will have a winner-takes-all shot at the Diamond Trophy in their chosen discipline, with all 32 Diamond League champions crowned in a bumper two-day programme. Expect fireworks as the stars of Paris 2024 turn up for one last opportunity to win a major global title in the outdoor season.
