Wanda Diamond League champions Ivana Vuleta and Miltiadis Tentoglou will be among the long jump superstars in action at the Pietro Mennea Golden Gala in Florence and the Bislett Games in Oslo this June.
Serbia's Vuleta, who won her fourth Diamond Trophy in 2022, will launch her title defence when she headlines the first long jump competition of the 2023 season in Florence on June 2nd. The 32-year-old remains a title favourite this season, but she will have her work cut out against a stellar field at the Golden Gala.
2019 champion Malaika Mihambo will also be chomping at the bit to reclaim her Diamond League title in 2023. The reigning Olympic champion started her season brightly last year with a meeting record in Birmingham but couldn't sustain that form into the final.
The two champions will be joined in Florence by seasoned Diamond League campaigners such as Great Britain's Jazmin Sawyers, Ukraine's Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk and Nigeria's Ese Brume. Italian fans, meanwhile, will be throwing their full weight behind Florence-born local star Larissa Iapichino.
There will be more high-class long jump action a few weeks later in Oslo, as Diamond League champion Miltiadis Tentoglou looks to get early points on the board in his title defence.
Tentoglou won his first Diamond Trophy last season in an impressive campaign which saw him win four out of five meetings and claim a meeting record in Silesia.
2021 Diamond League champion Thobias Montler will also make the short trip from Sweden to compete in Oslo, and will be hoping to exact revenge on Tentoglou after he was narrowly beaten by the Greek at Bislett last year.
World number three Marquis Dendy from the USA, Switzerland's Simon Ehammer and rising Indian star Murali Sreeshankar will also be in action in the Norwegian capital.
The Wanda Diamond League is athletics' premier one-day meeting series, which comprises 14 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 13 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Eugene on 16th-17th September.
