Reigning Wanda Diamond League champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh will continue her title defence in the women's high jump at the second meeting of the season in Keqiao on May 3, joining a star-studded line-up which already includes Mondo Duplantis and Karsten Warholm.
Ukrainian superstar Mahuchikh will be eyeing a fourth straight Diamond Trophy in 2025, having swept to three back-to-back titles since 2022.
The 23-year-old confirmed her status among the greatest athletes in history in a breathtaking display of dominance last season, which saw her claim the Diamond League title, her first Olympic gold medal and the world record.
Her 2.10m jump at the Wanda Diamond League Paris last July broke one of the longest-standing world records in athletics, with Mahuchikh going a centimetre higher than Stefka Kostadinova's previous mark of 2.09 from the World Championships in 1987.
She will be out to emulate that form when she returns to Diamond League action this spring, launching a season in which she is also hoping to defend her world outdoor title at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
The Shanghai/Keqiao meeting will be Mahuchikh's second stop on the Road to the Final, with the Ukrainian also confirmed to compete at the season opener in Xiamen a week earlier.
The Wanda Diamond League is the elite one-day meeting series in global athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final, which will be held in Zurich on 27th and 28th August 2025.
