The entry lists for the Meeting International Mohammed VI have now been published, with global stars such as Soufiane El Bakkali, Shericka Jackson and Mykolas Alekna set to launch their Wanda Diamond League campaigns in Marrakech.
Jamaican star Jackson will line up in the women's 200m, just nine months after she claimed both the 100m and 200m titles in a stunning sweep at last year's final in Eugene, becoming one of only a few athletes ever to win two Diamond Trophies in a single season.
Lithuanian 21-year-old Alekna is yet to pick up his first Diamond League win, having only burst onto the scene in the men's discus with medals at the World Championships in 2022 and 2023. Yet he is undoubtedly the man to beat this season ahead of the Paris Olympics after he sensationally broke the world record with 74.35m in Ramona, Oklahoma earlier this year.
El Bakkali is the reigning world and Olympic champion in the men's 3000m steeplechase and an undisputed national treasure in Morocco. The 2022 Diamond League champion missed out on last year's series final, and will no doubt be keen to make a winning start to his 2024 campaign.
Other global stars expected in Marrakech include Jamaican sprint legend Yohan Blake, women's shot put Diamond League champion Chase Jackson and Portuguese triple jump star Pedro Pablo Pichardo.
