Current leader of the DIAMOND RACE thanks to his wins at the IAAF DIAMOND LEAGUE meets of Doha and Rome, the German hopes to leave Monaco with the 4 points of the win and thus comfort his lead.
Double European Champion as well in 2012 and 2014 of High Jump, Ruth BEITIA will be in Monaco on July 17th. With her 2 victories at the IAAF DIAMOND LEAGUE this year in Rome and New-York, the Spanish is not only leading the DIAMOND RACE, but the world performance list too thanks to her jump of 2.00m in Rome.
With 3 continental titles these past 12 months, (100m & 200m last summer in Zurich, 60m indoor this winter) the new star of Europe Daphne SCHIPPERS will run the 200m in MONACO. By winning the European crown last year in 22.03, she has run the best European time of the last 20 years, since the 21.85 of Irina PRIVALOVA in … Monaco ! If the conditions are nice, the Meeting Record of Merlene OTTEY of 21.77 and the European Record by co-holders Marita Koch and Heike Drechsler of 21.71 might be threatened by our Dutch Champion.
European Champion on 800m last summer and indoors this winter as well, Adam KSZCZOT will run in Monaco for the first time on July 17th. The Polish will come to Monaco with the ambition to lower his Personal Best of 1:43.30 and breaking the barrier of 1:43.00, as 5 runners have done last year in the Principality.
Adding up to this list of prestigious names are the European Champion of 400m Hurdles Kariem HUSSEIN, winner in front of his Swiss compatriots last summer, and the Italian Libania GRENOT, European Champion on 400m, who will come to please the numerous transalpine fans present in the Louis II Stadium.
One month before the IAAF World Championships in Beijing, these champions will be joining you at Louis II Stadium on July 17th 2015 for what should be another amazing night of athletics.
