Fans of the horizontal jumps will be in for a treat when the Wanda Diamond League touches down on the Cote d'Azur for Herculis EBS Monaco on July 21st.
Reigning Diamond League triple jump champions Andy Diaz will resume his rivalry with two-time Diamond Trophy winner Pedro Pablo Pichardo in the men's triple jump.
Cuba's Diaz broke a national record with 17.75m in Florence early this year, while Cuban-born Portuguese star Pichardo also has early points on the board after his win at the season opener in Doha.
The women's long jump also promises fireworks, with Olympic champion Malaika Mihambo continuing her campaign to regain the Diamond Trophy against Italy's Larissa Iapichino and France's Hilary Kpatcha in Florence.
Mihambo was crowned Diamond League champion in 2019, before losing out to Serbia's Ivana Vuleta in each of the last two seasons. Iapichino, meanwhile, is the only female long jumper with a Diamond League win under her belt this year after she beat both women in her home town of Florence earlier this month.
The Wanda Diamond League is the premier one-day meeting series in athletics. It comprises 14 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 13 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Eugene on 16th-17th September.
