Olympic medallists in the women's pole vault, men's long jump and women's 100m hurdles will make a final bid to qualify for the Wanda Diamond League Final when they appear at the penultimate meeting of the 2024 campaign at Weltklasse Zurich.
Australian star Nina Kennedy will be the first Olympic champion in action in Zurich when she meets her fellow Paris medallists Katie Moon and Alysha Newman at the women's pole vault competition at the central train station on September 5th.
Kennedy beat Moon in the train station last season, and the 2022 Wanda Diamond League champion will be hoping for a third straight win at Weltklasse in 2024.
While Kennedy is currently on course to qualify for the Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels on September 13th-14th, her fellow Olympic champions Miltiadis Tentoglou and Masai Russell may still need points by the time they arrive in Zurich for the main programme at the Letzigrund Stadium on September 5th.
Tentoglou, who goes up against Swiss star and reigning Diamond League champion Simon Ehammer in Zurich, has only seven points so far this season and will want to pick up a statement win in Zurich ahead of the final.
Russell, who is currently fifth in the 100m hurdles standings, will take on fellow Olympic medallists Jasmine Camacho-Quinn and Cyrene Samba-Mayela as well as former world record holder Keni Harrison and current world champion Danielle Williams.
The Wanda Diamond League is the premier one-day meeting series in athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels on 13th-14th September.
