Newly crowned Olympic champions Cole Hocker, Quincy Hall and Mondo Duplantis will all return to elite athletics action when the Wanda Diamond League resumes at the Athletissima meeting in Lausanne on August 22nd.
Hocker's victory over world champion Josh Kerr and Diamond League champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen in the men's 1500m was one of the biggest surprises of the Olympic Games so far, and the American will be hoping to follow it up with his first ever Diamond League victory in Lausanne.
For Ingebrigtsen, who slumped to a shock fourth place in Paris, Athletissima is an opportunity to bounce back to his brilliant best and take another step towards a fourth career Diamond League title.
In the men's 400m, Hall will head to Lausanne hoping to repeat the form which saw him streak to gold medal glory in the Olympic final on Wednesday. Despite trailing the front three as he turned into the home straight the American produced a gutsy late burst to chase down British rival Matthew Hudson-Smith and clinch victory on the line.
At Athletissima, the entire podium of that extraordinary race will be reunited as Hall, Hudson-Smith and bronze medallist Muzala Samukonga of Zambia all return to Diamond League action.
Other Olympic medallists in action at Athletissima include Jamaica's Wayne Pinnock and Italy's Matteo Furlani, who won silver and bronze in the men's long jump on Tuesday. Women's 800m bronze medallist Mary Moraa will also be in action alongside the USA's Athing Mu, who dramatically failed to qualify for the Paris Games.
Double Olympic champion Mondo Duplantis was already confirmed for the pole vault city event, and will be joined by both silver medallist Sam Kendricks and bronze medallist Emmanouil Karalis.
The Wanda Diamond League is the premier one-day meeting series in athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels on 13th-14th September.
