Women's 100m world champion Sha'Carri Richardson will return to one of her favourite stadiums when she lines up at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene for the ninth Wanda Diamond League meeting of the season on July 5.
Richardson has happy memories of Eugene's Hayward Field, where she famously declared "I'm not back, I'm better" after her 100m victory at the US Championships in 2023.
That win was the star of an impressive streak of success on the sport's biggest stages, which saw her claim the world 100m title in 2023, a 200m Olympic silver medal in 2024, and a total of five Diamond League victories since 2023.
Hayward Field has remained a happy hunting ground for the 24-year-old. At the Eugene Diamond League last season, she clocked an impressive 10.83, the fastest time in the entire Diamond League season in the women's 100m.
This season, she will be hoping home advantage can spur her to victory once again as she bids for a first ever Diamond League title and prepares to defend her world title at September's World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
The Wanda Diamond League is the elite one-day meeting series in global athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final, which will be held in Zurich on 27th and 28th August 2025.
