– Stockholm Stadium is where I achieved the second best jump of my career when I broke the stadium record of 2.07 m at DN Galan in 2007. After the European Championships in Zurich it will be fun to be at DN Galan again and experience the special atmosphere in the Olympic Stadium. I always get such strong support from the fans whenever I jump in Sweden.
Emma Green has also had injury problems but is now back on the international scene with a recent jump of 1.93m in London.
– It feels good to get my outdoor season going and London was a positive start. DN Galan is always one of the year’s high points and the spectators really know their high jump. It’s a competition I’m especially looking forward to.
Both Blanka and Emma are strong personalities and crowd favourites at DN Galan. The two high jumpers have the same Swedish managers, Daniel Wessfeldt and Stina Funke. In recent years women’s high jump has often been the highlight of DN Galan and this year the discipline has moved back to its classical position at the Marathon Gate end of the arena. The knowledgeable Stockholm spectators appreciate international athletics and the Olympic Stadium will be buzzing when Blanka and Emma lead the slow handclapping before their jumps on 21 August.
