Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo will continue his 100m Wanda Diamond League title charge with a first ever appearance in Doha on May 16.
Already confirmed for the opening Diamond League meetings in Xiamen and Suzhou, Tebogo will continue his campaign at the third meeting of the season as he looks to win the Diamond Trophy for the first time in 2025.
“I’m excited to race in Doha, my first time competing there,” he said. “I know the field will be very competitive and I’m looking forward to seeing how I perform. Last year was tough both emotionally and physically but I’m excited to compete and to see how the season develops. It’s going to be a very long season, but I’m more experienced and mature and I’m ready to push my body to its limits and make every moment count.”
The Botswanan established himself as one of the best sprinters in the world last year, claiming Olympic gold in the men's 200m and notching up five Diamond League wins between July and September.
He narrowly missed out on the Diamond League title, however, after suffering a surprise defeat to US rival Kenny Bednarek at the series final in Brussels.
Having switched his attention to the 100m this season, Tebogo will be out to set the record straight this year and will be hoping to get early Diamond League points on the board in China and Qatar.
The Wanda Diamond League is the elite one-day meeting series in global athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final, which will be held in Zurich on 27 and 28 August 2025.
