The home crowd will have plenty to cheer at the Prefontaine Classic on May 25th, as some of the biggest stars in American sprinting descend on Eugene for the fifth leg of the 2024 Wanda Diamond League.
Reigning Diamond League champion Christian Coleman will headline the men's 100m, and will be hoping to build on his early-season victory in Xiamen on April 20th.
The women's 100m will feature world champion Sha'Carri Richardson, who is still on the hunt for her first win of the Diamond League season despite strong performances in both Xiamen and Suzhou.
The men's 200m will see US stars Kenny Bednarek and Erriyon Knighton take on Botswana's World Championships silver medallist Letsile Tebogo.
2021 Diamond League champion Bednarek showed he is still a force to be reckoned with when he claimed victory at the Brussels Diamond League last September, while Knighton continued his meteoric rise with two victories on the circuit in Oslo and Florence in 2023.
The Wanda Diamond League is the premier one-day meeting series in athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels on 13th-14th September.
