The Silesia leg of the Wanda Diamond League has been voted Poland's Sporting Event of the Year for the second year in a row after a vntage 2024 edition which saw world records from Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Mondo Duplantis.
As in 2023, the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial beat other major international events to win the award, which is presented by Polish sports newspaper "Przegląd Sportowy”.
Last season marked the 15th anniversary of both the meeting and the Wanda Diamond League series, and Silesia delivered an unforgettable anniversary celebration as it appeared on the Diamond League circuit for the third year in a row.
Ingebrigtsen smashed a 28-year-old 3000m world record with his 7:17.55 before Duplantis followed up with 6.26m in the pole vault, his third world record of the season and his second on the Diamond League circuit that year.
Both men will return to the scene of their triumph in 2025, having already confirmed their attendance at the next Silesia Diamond League on August 16th.
