The eleventh Wanda Diamond League meeting of the season will deliver a clash of the titans in the men's 400m hurdles, as Norway's Karsten Warholm, Brazil's Alison Dos Santos and the USA's Rai Benjamin go head to head at Weltklasse Zurich on August 31st.
Currently the top three in the world rankings, the three men have dominated the 400m hurdles in recent years, divvying up the major global titles between them as they have pushed the discipline to a new level.
Benjamin is the world and Olympic silver medallist and the second fastest hurdler of all time over one lap, having clocked 46.17 in the Olympic final in Tokyo in 2021. Only Warholm, who won gold in the same race with a world record of 45.94, has gone faster, and the Norwegian will be out to reassert himself as the best in the world in Zurich.
Having missed much of last season through injury, Warholm lost both his Diamond League and world titles in 2022, but has been back at his blistering best in recent weeks, breaking the Diamond League record twice already in Oslo and Monaco.
Dos Santos, who claimed both the world title and the Diamond Trophy last season, was hot on his heels in Monaco with a season's best of 47.66, and the Brazilian will back himself to take Warholm all the way in Zurich.
Weltklasse Zurich will be the first meeting back on the Wanda Diamond League circuit after next month's World Athletics Championships in Budapest, and one of the last chances for athletes to pick up points as they bid to qualify for the series final in Eugene.
Warholm has already booked his place in the final, while Dos Santos and Benjamin both still need more points to secure qualification.
