Live from the archive every single Sunday on the Wanda Diamond League YouTube channel, the WDL Classics series revisits historical Diamond League meetings with a re-live stream of the full two-hour TV broadcast. This week: Usain Bolt's first ever appearance in the series in Shanghai in 2010.
Usain Bolt was at the peak of his powers when the Diamond League launched back in 2010, and it was never going to take long for the Jamaican sprint legend to make his mark on athletics' most prestigious one-day circuit.
Bolt made his Diamond League debut in Shanghai in May 2010, returning to China for the first time since he swept to his first treble of Olympic golds in Beijing two years earlier.
The then 23-year-old stormed to victory in the men's 100m with a meeting record of 19.76, picking up the first of what would be 24 victories in the series between 2010 and 2017.
"There was some wind but in general it was a good race with a good time," he said.
Bolt wasn't the only big name to make an impression in Shanghai, with New Zealand shot put legend Valerie Adams and US hurdler David Oliver also picking up their debut wins in the new series.
Adams, then known by her maiden name of Vili, threw 19.72 to take the first of a clean sweep of seven Diamond League wins that year and kickstart an era of dominance which would see her win the Diamond Trophy in six of the following seven seasons.
Oliver, meanwhile, also claimed his first win of a title-winning season, racing to a breathtaking 12.99 to beat home hero Liu Xang in the 110m hurdles.
You can rewatch the 2010 Shanghai meeting in full from 15:00 GMT on the Wanda Diamond League YouTube channel.
