Mondo Duplantis will return to the site of two of his world records when he lines up at the ninth Wanda Diamond League meeting of the season at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene.
Already confirmed for the opening two meetings of the season in Xiamen and Shanghai, Duplantis will continue his quest for a fifth straight Diamond League title when he heads to Hayward Field on July 5.
The 24-year-old is already considered the greatest male pole vaulter of all time, having broken the world record no fewer than 10 times since 2020.
The fifth world record in his progression occurred in Eugene at the 2022 World Athletics Championships Oregon22 with a 6.21m jump, and his seventh world record took place in the same stadium at the 2023 Wanda Diamond League Final with a 6.23m jump.
The Swedish star's current world record stands at 6.26m, a height he cleared at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Silesia last August.
As well as his host of world records and four Diamond Trophies to date, Duplantis has also claimed two Olympic gold medals and two world titles over the past five years.
A fifth Diamond League title in 2025 would put him within just two of the record seven held by his friend and pole vault rival Renaud Lavillenie of France.
As in previous years, the Wanda Diamond League will also provide the backbone of his season as the Swede eyes a third world title in Tokyo in September.
The Wanda Diamond League is the elite one-day meeting series in global athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final, which will be held in Zurich on 27th and 28th August 2025.
