World record holders Yaroslava Mahuchikh and Ryan Crouser are among the big names expected in Zurich on September 5th for the last Wanda Diamond League meeting before the series final in Brussels.
Mahuchikh, who stunned the world with a new women's high jump world record of 2.10m at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Paris earlier this month, will be hoping to secure her qualification for the final when she lines up in Zurich, as she bids for a third straight Diamond League title in 2024.
The Ukrainian will face Australian rival Nicola Olyslagers and Serbian rising star Angelina Topic when she lines up at the Letzigrund Stadium.
She will not be the only world record holder in action at Weltklasse Zurich, with the USA's Ryan Crouser also set to line up in the men's shot put.
Double Olympic champion Crouser broke the shot put world record with 23.56m last season, before going on to claim Diamond League victories in Lausanne, Silesia and London.
As he aims for a third Olympic title this summer, he may also have one eye on regaining the Diamond Trophy he won in 2021. Having not appeared in the series so far this season, Crouser will need a big performance in Zurich if he is to secure his ticket to the final.
Zurich will also see a clash of some of the biggest names in the men's 110m hurdles, as world champion Grant Holloway and current Olympic champion Hansle Parchment go head to head once again.
Parchment inflicted two surprise defeats on Holloway towards the end of last season, snatching the Diamond League title away from him after Holloway had claimed his third world title in Budapest.
Holloway remains top dog in the discipline, however, and proved as much once again with his victory in Monaco earlier this month. With a PB of 12.81, he is also only a hundredth of a second off the world record himself.
Ahead of Monaco, however, he insisted that it was not one of his primary ambitions, declaring: "the world record is overrated".
Instead, the American heads into the second half of this season with two clear aims: winning a first Olympic title and regaining his Diamond League crown from the Jamaican.
Weltklasse Zurich is the 14th meeting of the 2024 Wanda Diamond League and the last chance for athletes to earn points and qualify for the final in Brussels on September 13th-14th.
Following the Olympic Games in Paris in July and August, athletics' premier one-day series offers the world's best one last chance at claiming a global title in 2024.
